*these last have been my most recent purchases. I still don't know what to think of the MMJ album; some great songs and some WTF? moments. The latter three are just choice. The Sharon Jones is perfect late 60s/early 70s funk/soul with sass and class though it was recorded last year. Inventive, catchy and all-around boogeying. Check it out. The Little Steven and Southside pickups are me soaking up the late 70s/early 80s blue-eyed soul movement of the Atlantic seaboard. While it's really really dated, the music sounds wonderful and the vibe is something that no band out there is creating. It's old, soulful and so out of date that's it's incredibly hip. Little Steven can't sing for the life of him but he's a great arranger and lyricist.
